Many a time Jim-Bob could be found in the GJ Movie Theater
watching TV, smoking and drinking a beer after work of course.
Jim-Bob along with Toad also was part of the "Bud Band" at J.J.
Pearce High School around 1981 in Richardson, Texas.
The rest of the page is from Jim's on words:
I worked at GJ throughout my
years at JJ Pearce, ('81-83). I also worked weekends and during
the summer for the 13 years I was in college, (actually only 4
and a half). After a rough start to my college career, (leaving
A&M after 3 semesters before they kicked me out), I attended
Richland Junior College for 2 full years. It was during this
time that I became a Christian, and slowly God started changing
the priorities in my life.
Though most of my memories of
GJ now leave me a little embarrassed, I definitely look back
fondly on those years. From the ridiculously late nights of
playing Win Lose or Draw, to all those stupid video games I fed
through the years. (A habit which, regrettably, has not gone
away and is now being passed on to my boy). Some highlights:
Headbanger piercing Doug's ear with a hunting knife and beer for
disinfectant, Terry and I going to Starplex to see either James
Taylor or Spyrogyra and wearing garbage bags (Terry, remember
the fishnet lady?), Doug and Steve Freeman "anointing" my '82
Oldsmobile the SS Jimbob complete with spokes painted on my
wheels, and a smokestack on top.
82 Olds Cutless Supreme
Monday nights at the
drive-in, hackey sacks, GJ Carrollton, Ms. PacMan, and the
absolute best pizza, even to this day, that I've ever had.
God has blessed me far beyond what I
deserve. I have a beautiful wife, Mitzi, to whom I have been
married for 14 years. We have two awesome kids, Haley (12), and
Trent (9). Haley likes sports, (volleyball and basketball), and
Trent LOVES sports, (having literally learned to read on the
Sports page of the paper).
I graduated from NTSU, (now UNT)
in December of 1987, and began work in the exciting, glamorous
world of Insurance Underwriting. I am currently Manager of an
Underwriting unit at Chubb Insurance Company, in downtown
Dallas.
Our entire family is very
involved in the music ministry of our church.
Mitzi and I sing in the choir
and praise team, and the kids both sing as well. I was ordained
as a Deacon at PPBC Irving, (go figger, huh?), and my faith and
my family are the most important things in my life. |
